Description:
Responsibilities:
The Music Department at Capilano University invites applications for a non-regular Instrumental Ensemble Instructor. This is a unionized position at our North Vancouver campus and will begin on January 1, 2025.
The successful candidate will teach one section of ENSM 160/260 in person during the Spring term with the possibility of work in future terms.
The successful candidate will have the following teaching duties:
- Select repertoire, rehearse and direct the Instrumental Ensemble, comprised of mainly first and second year Music Diploma students.
- Select repertoire, coach chamber ensembles.
- Arrange music for different types of ensembles.
- Organize, promote, and direct concerts.
- Audition new ensemble members.
- Evaluate student learning through assessments and marking.
- Provide support to students through weekly office hours and advising.
The successful candidate will also be expected to support the Department’s initiatives and provide service to Departmental, Faculty, and University wide committees. These duties include:
- Create and update course materials, outlines, and curriculum.
- Participate in meetings, committees, and events at the program, department, faculty, and university levels.
