Description:

Our client is a $7 Billion Industry Superannuation Fund with a focus on supporting and improving the retirement outcomes of their members. Based in Melbourne CBD, located in a well-appointed and welcoming office environment. They offer a hybrid working arrangement to balance the benefits of working with a team of professionals and effectively working from your home environment.
Reporting to the Fund’s highly experienced Insurance Manager, your primary objective will be to provide the support and services to members (or their representatives) in group life insurance claim activities. This will include claim management of Death, Total and Permanent Disablement, Terminal Illness, Permanent Incapacity, and Income Protection claims within a small, dedicated team.
Responsibilities:
Liaise with the Fund’s external Insurers and Administrator to manage the day-to-day claims activities to
- Provide written and verbal responses to enquiries on eligibility
- Review and prepare files for insurer submissions
- Review, prepare and make recommendations in conjunction with the Insurance Manager for approval under Board delegation.
- Monitor the flow and status of current claims and address any delays.
- Monitor payments for IP claimants, and that premium waivers are administered in accordance with the relevant insurance policy in conjunction with the Insurance Manager.
- Develop and maintain a current understanding of procedures, service standards, business rules and systems enabling identification of opportunities that deliver streamlined business processes; and
- Maintain productive internal and external relationships while ensuring that all activities are conducted in a manner that is compliant with legal and statutory standards.
To achieve success in this role you have:
- Proficiency in the assessment of all types of group life claims utilising group life insurance principles,
- The ability to discuss insurance matters with members and/or beneficiaries particularly during difficult and sensitive times,
- Familiarity with the responsibility of Trustees, the complaints process and the function of Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) is preferred,
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, demonstrable empathy and attention to detail,
- A qualification in insurance and/or superannuation is desirable,
- A working understanding and application of trust deed and superannuation legislation and tax (desirable), and
- The ability to contribute to a supportive and professional team and across the Fund.
