Description:

Gas Networks Ireland operates and maintains Ireland’s €2.7bn, 14,664km national gas network, which is considered one of the safest and most modern renewables-ready gas networks in the world.
Over 720,000 Irish homes and businesses trust Ireland’s gas network to provide efficient and reliable energy to meet their heating, cooking, manufacturing and transport needs.
The gas network is the cornerstone of Ireland’s energy system, securely supplying more than 30% of Ireland’s total energy, including 40% of all heating and almost 50% of the country’s electricity generation.

Gas Networks Ireland is now seeking to appoint an Integrated Delivery Planning Manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Third level qualification in Engineering/Business, or a related degree, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Project / Programme Management.
  • Programme / project management qualification e.g. PMP, IPMA, Prince 2 or CIMA would be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ senior management experience working in a strategic delivery role.
  • Demonstrated experience of effective risk and stakeholder management across a portfolio/programme.
  • Extensive knowledge of project and programme management methodologies and techniques.
  • Ability to:
  • Manage the coordination/delivery of high priority programmes with multiple complex stakeholders and service providers.
  • Develop strategic relationships to accomplish the delivery of the portfolio.
  • Set high standards, by supporting others to assume responsibility for projects and programmes.
  • Exercise independent judgement in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for programme optimisation and change control.
  • Support colleagues in shaping and implementing efficient and effective processes and adoption of best practice.
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-established and proven influencing and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE:

The Portfolio Office function within Gas Networks Ireland is responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight for the delivery of all capital and operational work within the organisation, enabling it to make key decisions that will optimise the overall delivery of GNI’s portfolio of work. The office provides support and oversight in the areas of Investment Planning and Governance, Integrated Delivery Planning, Portfolio Programme Management, Connections Coordination and Contractor Performance; whilst also acting as the gate keeper and critical interface between potential investment programmes and commercial opportunities; and the core departments responsible for the delivery, operation and maintenance of GNI’s assets.
Reporting to the Head of Portfolio, the Integrated Delivery Planning Manager will be responsible for the development and management of the single integrated delivery plan. This is a single, highly visible work delivery plan which provides the full view of the optimised delivery of both capital and operational work programmes being delivered by Asset Delivery and Asset Operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for engaging with Portfolio Programmed Managers and Connections Coordination team to create the single integrated delivery plan over the short, medium and long term. This includes:
  • Sequencing the work in the plan, for the most effective and efficient delivery.
  • Identifying and managing conflicting activities in the plan (avoiding multiple parties at the same time / location, deferred work, additional risk and secondary visits, in conjunction with relevant Portfolio Programme Managers.
  • Prioritising the work in the plan (based on mitigating the risk on the network as advised by Asset Engineering and Portfolio Programme Managers.
  • Allocating resources / skills groups to the work in the plan (including the identification of contractor delivered work), in conjunction with HR workforce planning team.
  • Working with Asset Engineering to confirm the requirements for work to improve / maintain the network as per policy and standards
  • Working with Asset Delivery to define and build the capital and operational programme elements for the plan.
  • Working with Maintenance Programming & Delivery to integrate the maintenance plans into the overall plan.
  • Engaging with Investment Planning & Governance and others, to provide information on the status of the integrated plan
  • Assists Portfolio Programme Managers with risk mitigation, portfolio change control and co-ordination, in conjunction with key stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Drive for high performance, setting the standard for continuous improvement in the delivery of the portfolio.
  • Perform other such duties that may be required from time to time.
