Description:

BASIC FUNCTION

The Integrated Technical Support team provide a seamless handover from engineering investigative tasks and knowledge to operations delivery of new and refurbished product. The team support new product introduction activities and new process definition in close liaison with the engineering design authority. Technical support is provided throughout the product lifecycle including low rate and/or ad-hoc production assembly tasks, returned materiel (RMA) activity (strip/survey/report/kit/rebuild), defect investigation and product repair as required.
The ITS Technicians are key members of the ITS team, working flexibly and at pace and using their professional skills and experience to ensure technical requirements and lead times are met in a safe and efficient manner.
The technician role is expected to include a focus on the achievement of practical and repeatable build quality and efficiency and with training experience and evidence of ownership may lead to progression to the engineering role.

  • Experience in working on some or all of: development engineering programs; product or systems containing high pressure hydraulics and / or gases; large intricate assemblies.
  • Able to test hydro-pneumatic components and systems.
  • Able to use standard measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, etc.
  • Able to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Able and willing to undertake additional training and train or mentor others when the need is identified.
  • Able to support activities with APQP team as necessary, including defect and quality concerns such as 8D investigation methodologies.
  • Health and safety aware – adhere to Horstman safety policy at all times.
  • Have a positive attitude to continuous professional development.

Responsibilities:

  • Support design and program reviews, including wash-up meetings, risk reviews.
  • Work with and support multi-disciplined teams in the introduction of new products and production processes into full manufacture
  • Supporting cross training within the team and the business by giving or receiving training across a wide range of products and processes. May include task-supervision and support to trainees (such as colleagues, apprentices or student engineers), customer, contractor or supplier personnel
  • Generate assembly, disassembly and function test documentation and working instructions.
  • To prepare for and complete the mechanical assembly or disassembly and testing of components, sub-assemblies and assemblies for a wide range of products including mechanisms, hydro-pneumatic suspension systems and safety critical product whether new build or RMA. Includes:
  • Assembly operations to defined production standards
  • Function test or troubleshoot testing
  • Proof test of components used in high pressure hydraulic systems.
  • Liaise with operations personnel and the ITS Team leader to determine daily production requirements.
  • Ensure work instructions are adhered to at all times and that all Quality requirements are met.
  • Support continuous improvements activities in ITS area of the business.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness.
  • Undertake other additional duties that may be required from time to time as determined by the company and/or your Line Manager.
  • Working within commercial confidentiality security need to know principles and Trade Compliance (UK and ITAR) control plans
  • Provide constructive feedback to improve our products and processes.
    This is a permanent position, based in Bath, working a 37 hour week. Work outside normal office hours and travel to and from other sites may be required, with occasional over-night stays. International travel may be required to support our overseas activities. When necessary, candidates will be expected to work additional hours as the job requires to achieve internal and customer deadlines.
