The Intellectual Property Paralegal role includes preparing, processing, submitting and monitoring Intellectual Property (IP), primarily U.S. and foreign patents and patent applications. Duties include filing patent applications and other application documents, maintaining patent portfolios, coordinating with staff attorneys and paralegals, docketing correspondence from the U.S. and foreign patent offices, filing with the U.S. Patent Office, and maintaining IP agreements.

Responsibilities:

  • Updating records in docketing software relating to invention disclosures from the North America product development centers.
  • Preparing inventors’ declarations, information disclosure statements, priority document submissions, assignment documents, and US national phase and Paris Convention applications, design patent applications, provisional-to-nonprovisional and provisional-to-PCT conversions, and other application documents and filing same with the U.S. Patent Office.
  • Gathering necessary disclosure information and preparing and submitting defensive publications.
  • Auditing paper and electronic files in accordance with IP department guidelines.
  • Managing and docketing correspondence and documents from government intellectual property offices.
  • Corresponding with global associates and IP department members regarding prosecution and maintenance of the US and foreign patent portfolio.
  • Administering the patent and trademark maintenance fee review process, including paying maintenance fees with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and instructing service providers for paying maintenance fees.
  • Assisting in biannual audits of inventor awards payments and providing instructions and reports on awards to HR and product development.
  • Maintaining the deposit account with the U.S. Patent Office.
  • Processing invoices from vendors and logging expenses in the docketing software platform.
  • Docketing IP agreements.
  • Administering the docketing software platform, including granting users access.

The annual salary for this role is $65,625 - $87,500 (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
Qualifications:

THE QUALIFIED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Paralegal Certificate or Associate’s degree
