YOUR PROFILE

The advent of hundreds of new renewable energy projects is making interconnecting with transmission utilities one of the most important drivers of success in the industry.
We are seeking a personable, self-motivated team player who enjoys the challenge of working within the boundaries of the Transmitter (Hydro One) and IESO regulations, while uncovering ways and practices to expedite the process of connecting large scale renewable energy projects in Ontario. Creating and maintaining relationships are vital to this job.
Experience in Renewables Development and/or working for a transmitter or ISO is not required but is a plus. Our North American team is knowledgeable and collaborative, and we tackle the everyday challenges of interconnection with a positive attitude and the willingness to learn. This is a fast-paced environment and will require travel to job sites as needed.

YOUR SKILLS

  • BSc or BEng degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years project management experience.
  • 5+ years experience with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction processes.
  • Experience with MS Project.
  • Proficient in Tara, PowerWorld, PSS/E or other power system software a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience in Ontario renewable energy a plus.
  • Experience working for Hydro One or IESO a plus.
  • French language skills a plus.
  • Creativity, a strong team spirit, obsessive organizational skills, and analytical thinking all help with this role.
  • Technically savvy, or at least curious.

Responsibilities:

OUR PURPOSE

On our planet where electricity is central to fighting climate change, we have a responsibility to produce it sustainably for future generations.

Reporting to the Interconnection Director, your role and responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Drive the Interconnection process for projects in Ontario with support from Boralex colleagues and external consultants.
  • Build relationships that encourage collaboration and respect with the IESO and Transmitters.
  • Work closely with the Boralex engineering team to manage comments and revisions of Interconnection related documents and plan sets.
  • Manage utility processes, timelines, payments, deposits, and relationships from development to commercial operation of Ontario projects.
  • Be involved in all communications with Transmitter and attend pertinent meetings.
  • Manage the submittal of applications for interconnection studies.
  • Create, maintain, and integrate timelines that reflect the Transmitter and IESO schedules throughout the life of a project.
  • Negotiate IESO and Transmitter agreements.
  • Manage interconnection subcontractors’ budgets, scope, and schedule.
  • Perform site visits and report on issues specific to the interconnection facilities.
  • Manage electric utility easements and encroachments for interconnection facilities and access roads.
  • Manage Transmitter metering process.
  • Manage utility testing and commissioning of the interconnection facility.
  • Ensure that all utility telecommunication requirements are met on time.
  • Manage project close-out and hand off to Boralex Asset Management team
