The Role - Interim Head of Residential Conveyancing / Partner
Forbes Solicitors LLP are seeking an experienced Residential Property / Conveyancing Solicitor to join our Residential Conveyancing Team as Interim Head of Department. The role will be a permanent, full-time role, at our Gordon House office in Central Lancashire.
This is fantastic opportunity for an experienced Residential Property Solicitor who is passionate about their speciality within Property law, is a team player and is looking to develop their skills, knowledge and experience in a leading role.
Whilst the role offers the opportunity to lead and develop the Residential Conveyancing Team on an interim basis, the role also offers a permanent opportunity within the team, with the overall aim of supporting and developing a well-established team to increase its turnover.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for achieving successful outcomes such as:

  • Provide expert and authoritative advice and representation to clients on complex, high-value, and sensitive matters of residential sales/purchases, re-mortgages, transfers of equity, lease creation and some voluntary first registration work.
  • Oversee large cases or projects, ensuring they are completed efficiently, within deadlines, and to the highest professional standards.
  • Guide strategic decision-making on case management, legal risks, and outcomes.
  • Deliver the organisations, vision, values and standards and create a strong proposition for people and clients to buy in to.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, acting as their trusted legal advisor.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to grow the firm’s client base, develop new service offerings, and expand into emerging legal markets.
  • Build a network and profile to promote cross-selling, referrals, and introduction opportunities
  • Represent the firm at networking events, industry conferences, and client presentations to enhance visibility and reputation.
  • Lead pitch processes and tenders for new business, contributing to revenue targets.
  • Manage a team of associates, senior associates, and support staff, delegating work appropriately while providing oversight and feedback.
  • Coach and mentor the team, fostering their professional growth and ensuring the development of legal and commercial skills.
  • Conduct performance reviews, set performance goals, and assist with career progression planning within the team.
  • Play an active role in the firm’s management by contributing to strategic decisions, firm policies, and operational efficiencies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to profitability, billable hours, and client satisfaction, while driving continuous improvements.
  • Ensure the team and firm remain compliant with all legal and regulatory obligations, including SRA regulations or other relevant governing bodies.
  • Mitigate risks by implementing best practices in client care, file management, and due diligence.
  • Maintain high standards of ethics, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
  • Recruit, develop and manage a high performing team who deliver a great service to clients and deliver strong recovery rates for the business
