Reporting to the Interior Design Manager, the Design Coordinator will be tasked with:

  • Working in a multidisciplinary environment (high-rise rentals and condos, retirement communities, commercial fit-ups, low-rise housing, and a variety of other custom projects.
  • Works with Interior Design Manager and other department managers to determine needs, preferences, safety requirements, and purpose of spaces on new and retrofit projects.
  • Develop and present detailed plans, elevations, cross sections, and detailed drawings, and/or advise architects on the selection of colours, finishes and materials, floor and wall coverings, window treatments, interior and exterior lighting, furniture, and other items, taking into account ergonomic and occupational health standards.
  • Make selection recommendations on finishes and fabrics for custom furniture to create tender documents and send them out for furniture procurement for larger projects such as Retirement Homes.
  • Work closely with the Sales and Marketing team to ensure that the company brand is showcased through all new designs.
  • Oversee staging/furnishing common areas and model units in new buildings and retrofits.
  • Responsible for receiving deliveries, collaborating with movers to gets staging, setting up furniture, and putting the finishing touches on common area and model units
  • Work within a range of project and budge scope, from individual rooms, to multi story residential buildings.
  • Visit sites regularly to ensure the design intent is being met. Often you will interact with the trades to give them direction
  • Assist other departments with retrofits to existing buildings that Claridge owns. This can be large or small-scale retrofits

Kowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Graduated from a Bachelor of Interior Design program that is NCIDQ accredited.
  • Being personally NCIDQ certified is not required but is an asset
  • A personal vehicle is required
  • English is required, but French or other languages are an asset.
  • Work for a minimum of 3 years in the design field. High-rise rentals, condos, and retirement home experience is an asset)
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Google Sketch-Up
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe PDF, and Microsoft Office Suites (particularly Gmail, Word, Excel, Google Sheets, and Google Calendar)
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Independent, enthusiastic, and hardworking individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and the ability to multi-task and coordinate various activities
