Description:

Softek Global Services provides both operations & strategic support to tribal 8(a) & commercial organizations. Our client we are supporting is a family of companies are comprised of multiple SBA Certified Native American Tribal 8(a) and multi-certified organizations focused on delivering Information Technology, Management Consulting, and General Construction solutions to the Federal Government along with the Commercial Sector. They are actively seeking an Interior Designer based in Norco, CA. This is a full time, onsite role. This position requires an active DoD Secret or the ability to obtain one.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team supporting a facilities contract at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Norco, CA. The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • The designer develops and coordinates interior design projects, from programming to construction documents and procurement. This position incorporates FF&E design, specification, and presentations for new furniture and reconfigurations of existing interior office space and specialty rooms. Creates complex drawings and computer renderings that include multiple views, details, and visual representation. Obtains materials and finish samples. Prepares detailed specification packages.
  • This position reports to the Program Manager and works directly alongside our CAD Drafter and government employees/customers. The Interior Designer provides creative solutions working from sketches, computer models, and verbal information supplied by an engineer, architect, or end-user. Assignments regularly require creative solutions to systems furniture, reconfigurations, and finishes to existing and new facilities. Maximizes use and function with ergonomics, biophilia, and environmental awareness. Maintains Interior Design DWG files and co-maintains master Building and Archibus cad files.
  • This designer independently resolves most of the problems encountered and works with others to resolve difficult problems. Creates annual furniture budget and monitors procurement. Ensures timely completion of projects and code compliance. Collaborates with Project Managers, architects, and engineers to develop new design solutions. Mentors and shares information for continuous improvement.

  • Gather project requirements, field measure, locate data/electrical, verify RCP, review existing conditions to reuse or acquire new furniture. Develop scope of work and plans. Design layout, select furnishings and finishes. Interface with departments to refine plans and obtain approvals. Submit procurement documents and monitor delivery timeline.
  • Participate in pre-planning activities and capture program information to assist Project Managers in meeting the end-user needs for new facilities and spaces. Interface with outside architectural and construction contractors, installers, and vendors as necessary.
  • Review proposed architectural plans for new contract interior installations. Develop block plans and typical stations. Evaluate layouts and communicate findings to appropriate parties for possible inclusion. Develop design intent and prepare presentations and drawings. Work from electronic schematics and virtual meeting environments to share ideas and information.
  • Prepare procurement documentation, including Market Research on products and detailed specifications. Assist with monitoring timelines, delivery dates, access, and project closeout.
  • Ad-hoc projects include Emergency Exit Plans, Maps, and other wayfinding documents or guides. Continually, revaluate for potential improvements and efficiencies.
  • Adhere to all city, state, and federal regulatory statues.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • U.S Citizen
  • A SECRET level Security Clearance or the capability to receive one is required.
  • 4-year degree (preferred in commercial design w/ architectural and code knowledge).
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD, Archibus, REVIT, Google Earth, Sketch Up, Microsoft Suite, Adobe PRO DC, Bluebeam
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to read electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints
  • This designer must have experience with facility planning, systems furniture, technical guides, specification catalogs, purchasing, and computer aided design and software programs. NCIDQ preferred or +8 years of experience.

Physical Demands
Ability to lift and/or carry moderate weight (50lbs), sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, repetitive hand motions, hear, speak, travel outside of the base. May experience prolonged and irregular work hours, and work with frequent interruptions.
