Description:
Hillberg & Berk, a Canadian owned jewelry company, is looking for a performance driven individual, who has a passion for producing high quality and precision work to join our Finance Team based in Regina!
Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance & DC, the Intermediate Accountant will work collaboratively to ensure month-end, quarterly, and annual deliverables are met. This position is suited to develop a tenured analytical technical expert, who, recognized and supported by their leader, can deliver quality work on a consistent basis. This role will focus on maintaining accounting records as well as comprehensive controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of Hillberg & Berk’s financial results.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
Requires knowledge in accounting principles and practices, and previous experience with month-end close and financials reporting in a manufacturing and/or retail environment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Related Field
- CPA designation (or near completion)
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in industry based roles or equivalent experience
- Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, MS office and financial software applications (QuickBooks)
- Experience in the retail industry and using an ERP system is considered an asset
Responsibilities:

- Manage and prepare monthly schedules, reconciliations, and analysis of balance sheet accounts, including implementing controls and reports to ensure reliability of data and applicable deadlines are met
- Responsible for filing and payment of sales taxes and corporate income tax instalments
- Prepare monthly sales reports for external parties and manage lease payment tracking
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance
- Support and coach other team members in processing accounts payable and receivable and in month-end reconciliations as needed
- Build and coordinate processes as well as identify non-value-added processes within Finance and other business units and research alternatives and recommends solutions?
- Provide support to Payroll & Benefits Consultant in the case of sickness/vacation
- Responsible for performing special initiatives and assist with projects including enforcing policies and procedures, explaining processes and techniques and recommending actions to improve process efficiency and performance that impact cross functional teams
- Assist Senior Director, Finance & DC with financial reporting as needed, and assist with year-end review
- Other duties and special projects as assigned

Salary Range: $56,907 to $81,890
The broadband pay range is based on the advertised position’s job level. The salary provided to the incumbent will be based on their years of professional experience, level of education and applicable knowledge and skills
