About the Team:
Investment Operations serves as a control point between the Front Office (Investment Management and Trading Teams) and the Back-Office Counterparties (Brokers, Issuers). In this role, you will gain a deep knowledge of both the applications and the business processes you support. You will handle complex issues via various communication channels, respond to customers in a clear, concise and timely manner and find smart solutions to mitigate issues.
About the Role:
The Intermediate Trade Support Analyst – Investment Operations ,reports to the Manager of Application Support. Aspects of the Investment Trading function include, but not limited to trading application user support, daily cash & asset reconciliations, corporate actions processing, trade processing and corrections, securities setup and security master data support, audit support. Liaise with vendor for troubleshooting and administration of application configuration in addition to providing general support to client groups as well as participate in new product launches and ad-hoc projects.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Work shift as required to support the daily ETF processes, including ETF Order Approval and Processing, and End of Day Basket Reconciliation.
  • Responsible for timely and efficient resolution of issues with specified Investment Operations processes with a primary responsibility for Bloomberg AIM processes
  • Contribute to enhancement of various Investment Operations processes
  • Responsible for timely and efficient resolution of issues in daily Investment Operations systems.
  • Understand, Maintain, and Create documentation on team processes.
  • Provide after hour and weekend support on a rotation basis for various Investment Operations processes, ensuring prompt attention and escalation as required to avoid disruption to the business.

Your Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Act as the liaison between the internal teams and application vendors to resolve technical queries and process issues for the customer quickly and efficiently.
  • Respond in a timely fashion to update clients as to the status of their requests; manage customer expectations regarding estimate response times for issue resolution.
  • Own the customer queries from start to finish; communicate with customers and team members regularly on issue status.
  • Liaise and collaborate with other teams and departments to facilitate end-to-end solutions to user issues.
  • Contribute to ongoing enhancement of user experience through understanding the business model, business rules etc.
  • Track vendor related issues from discovery to resolution; monitor issue logs to ensure all issues are addressed and escalated appropriately.
  • Apply analytical skills to aid in problem resolutions. Anticipate obstacles and execute proactive approach to issues.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships within the team, through regular communication, information sharing and collaboration on problem solving.

Your Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year in Front Office Trade Support, ideally in a BUY-SIDE Trade Operations organization. Of operations/production support experience or comparable educational background
  • Prior experience with Investment trading and supporting systems such Eagle Investment Systems, Bloomberg Professional Applications, CIBC Mellon Workbench, Charles River and SS&C or other applicable systems
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Office (specifically Excel formulas. Access, macros & VBA knowledge is an asset).
  • Strong knowledge and experience with SQL/Oracle, relational databases an asset.
  • Investment management business knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of Domestic and International Equities, FI Instruments (including TIPS, ILG, and other linked Bonds), Exchange Trade Funds, Currency Forwards, Options, Futures
  • Strong data knowledge, specifically in Financial Industry Security Master data
  • Results oriented: focused on getting things done with tangible and measurable benefits.
  • Ability to work independently, under tight timelines, with great attention to detail.
  • Technical literacy, able to understand complex issues and translate these issues down to the lowest common denominator.
  • Relationship building: able to build, maintain and manage strong relationships with investment managers, analysts and client services agents.
  • Teamwork and collaboration: able to work effectively with others in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in adding operational efficiencies at the process and systems level.
