As an Intermediate Civil Designer you will:
- Develop 3D Model for civil grading elements (roads, ditches, ponds, etc.) using company standards and procedures.
- Import and translate Lidar and survey data.
- Prepare 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings of moderate to advanced complexity.
- Work closely and openly with, Leads, Design Checkers, Engineers and other disciplines in a team environment.
- Check work done by other Designers when required.
- Review drawings and vendor equipment documentation from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution.
- Adhere to industry codes and standards as well as department practices and procedures.
- Perform bulk material take-off analysis and tabulations.
- Assist Design Supervisor and perform other duties as required.
BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Accredited two (2) year diploma or global equivalent in technical field of study.
- Directly related experience of five (5) or more years.
- At least two (2) years of Bentley InRoads or OpenRoads modelling experience is preferred.
- Experience with other CAD software such as, but not limited to, Civil 3D, InRoads, AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Knowledge of civil site grading, cut and fill, underground utilities and water management catchment systems (storm and sanitary).
- Experience with hydrological & hydraulic design in rainfall-runoff, hydrograph development, and storm/sediment pond setup an asset.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the team including management and coworkers in a professional manner.
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of Canadian codes and standards.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
- Moderate to advanced knowledge of civil design concepts and principles.
- Solid problem-solving skills through sound judgement and innovation.
- Computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs.
