QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years of related low/medium/high voltage power distribution.
  • Substation design experience considered and asset.
  • Familiarity with power systems including power systems studies (load flow and protective device coordination using Easypower, SKM and ETAP), project scopes, project schedules and deliverables.
  • Knowledge of engineering standards, codes and guidelines.
  • Strong industrial experience, with experience in surface and underground mining.
  • Knowledge of mining-related processes a definite asset.
  • Extensive computer knowledge in industry applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with exceptional report-writing skills.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment to meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and driven to achieve client satisfaction targets.
  • Willingness to travel and to go on site.

    Term: Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours/week)

Your Key Accountabilities

  • Design distribution systems utilizing client standards including bill of materials, yard layouts, plans, sections and details, grounding, ground grid, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC and DC power systems and cable lists.
  • Design protection and control scheme; including CT selection, relay wiring design and protection parameter selection using IEEE standards and applicable codes.
  • Prepare calculations and equipment specifications.
  • Prepare scope of work, estimates, schedules, budgets, specifications and reports.
  • Prepare new and modify existing relay drawings including relay panel arrangements, single lines, three lines, AC and DC schematics, equipment wiring, and relay panel wiring.
  • Prepare new and modify existing reports/studies such as Protection and Coordination, Arc Flash, Load Flow and Grounding.
  • Develop and evaluate plans and schedules for major projects.
  • Coordinate with other discipline departments, such as Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Automation to integrate packages and work activities.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to junior team members.
  • Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel

Responsibilities:

In your role as an Intermediate Electrical Engineer, reporting to the Manager of Power Systems Engineering Services, you are responsible for performing engineering design and studies for various electrical distribution and substation projects (from 600V up to 230kV voltage levels). This includes preparing electrical protection and control design deliverables, and/or physical layouts for medium and high voltage substations. You will also establish project strategy, review drawings, and ensure elements of design and detailing adhere to jurisdictional requirements and will liaise with all key stakeholders.
