Our team is growing, and as a result we’re adding Intermediate Geophysical Technicians to our Water Management Team based in Calgary, Alberta. As part of the team in Prairies and North, you’ll be responsible for driving forward our ambitious plans to enhance our Earth and Environment service offerings through your work with a close-knit team of engineering specialists, professionals, and technical staff.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Conduct shallow ground geophysical surveys including Seismic Refraction, MASW, Electrical Resistivity Imaging, Magnetics, Ground Penetrating Radar, Electromagnetics and Microgravity methods on land, in boreholes and over water.
  • Assisting in the deployment and operation of geophysical equipment, such as seismic sources, receivers, and electromagnetic instruments.
  • Assisting in data processing and analysis.
  • Collecting and recording field data accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain and calibrate geophysical equipment.Adhering to safety protocols and procedures.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Bachelor of Science in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, Geological Engineering or related discipline majoring in Geophysics
  • Post graduate qualification in geophysics is an asset but not essential
  • Experience (2 to 5 years) related to applications of geophysics to near-surface engineering and geoscience
  • Ability to travel frequently outside of the office to complete field work (50-100%)
  • Ability to work outdoors, often in remote areas
  • Physical fitness, mechanical aptitude, experience with computers and electronics
  • Practical experience with two or more of the following geophysical methods:
  • Seismic refraction
  • Seismic reflection

Responsibilities:
