Will serve as the design engineering specialist for the Building Services/HVAC group and perform the following tasks:
1. Design and model HVAC systems using Revit;
2. Coordinate effectively with other disciplines and workshare offices to solve modeling issues.
3. Support HVAC lead and Mechanical lead to ensure full compliance of HVAC design with company standards and client requirements
4. Other related duties/functions as assigned

Strong Technical skills on Revit modeling and ductwork design are a must:

  • Design the ductwork independently, including sizing the ducts, routing the ductwork based on the building layout, placing the duct components, etc.
  • Calculate pressure drop in a duct system
  • Prepare 3D HVAC models of advanced complexity using Revit under company certified environment.
  • Extract HVAC general layout drawings from Revit in accordance with project requirements
  • Run HVAC reports in Revit including duct MTOs/key quantities reports
  • Run internal and external model reviews using Navisworks

Skills/Knowledge of HVAC calculations and utilities pipe routing are an asset:

  • Assist lead HVAC engineer with preparing HVAC design criteria, HVAC specifications, and various engineering documents
  • Assist lead HVAC engineer with preparing calculations, including:
  • Gathering building information and heating loads from other disciplines
  • Setting up parameters for Carrier HAP software
  • Using psychrometric chart or software to plot simple cooling, heating and humidification process and to size the HVAC equipment
  • Assist lead HVAC engineer with utilities system design, including:
  • Hydraulic calculations for steam, heating hot water and chilled water systems
  • Prepare utilities distribution diagrams

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • An accredited 4-year Bachelors degree, or equivalent, in Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC and/or utilities systems.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in designing HVAC systems using Revit
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent team player but also able to work independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Practical field experience
  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
