EDUCATION:

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or other related field of study is required (combination of equivalent experience and/or training will be considered).
• Certification in SolidWorks is an asset.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 2 years working experience in 2D drafting for industrial or manufactured products.
• Minimum 1 year working experience in SolidWorks drafting.
• Working experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Working experience in creating SOP’s is an asset.
• Working experience with SolidWorks Composer is an asset.
• Hands on experience with various shop tools, basic machineries and CNC machineries is an asset.
• Knowledge and understanding of CNC technology (e.g. lathe, mill, water jet cutter, router tables) is an asset.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to walk, sit, or stand for extended periods and navigate safely in an industrial environment (e.g., ladders, stairs, stationary and moving industrial equipment).
• Must be able to lift 11.3 kg/25 lb. Ability to work in closed spaces and/or elevated heights with the proper safety equipment.

POSITION PURPOSE:

This position works with the Mechanical Engineers to create, release, and manage 2D drawings as well as assist with 3D modeling of novel industrial microwave processing equipment in SolidWorks.

• This position is accountable to ensure (in coordination with the Mechanical Engineers) all aspects of the SolidWorks 2D drawings are kept current, accurate and properly labelled so the manufacturing team can produce the required products both on time and on budget.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create, detail and verify engineering drawings with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, notations, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to document redlined or as-built drawing changes required for production.
• Own the engineering documentation vault, and the drawing release and control process in SolidWorks PDM.
• Create Bills of Material (BOM), weldment cut lists and flat patterns for waterjet cutter.
• Based on business requirements, this position is responsible to support the Engineering team with specific time related priorities and deadlines.
