Description:

AWC Water Solutions Ltd. specializes in providing integrated water, wastewater treatment plants and many other specialized industrial packaged solutions. We offer clients advanced in-house engineering & design with 3D modeling, piloting, fabrication and machining, in-house control panel shop, and a full range of field services, allowing us to provide turn-key solutions.
We are seeking an intermediate level Mechanical Engineering to support the design and fabrication teams and who also brings professionalism and dedication to the work we do and the communities we serve. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in selection and sizing of mechanical equipment for water and wastewater treatment systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Work as lead mechanical engineer on projects.
  • Perform analysis to support the sizing of mechanical equipment/components to meet the Client specifications.
  • Review engineering documents and verify compliance of selected mechanical equipment to client specifications and industry standards and codes.
  • Work with the mechanical design and fabrication teams to verify equipment selection and sizing provided by the application engineering group.
  • Evaluate and recommend cost-effective design options without compromising quality and performance. Reviewing vendor quotes and writing manufacturers requisitions.
  • Support the sales teams with proposals and cost estimates.
  • Assist in the creation of prototypes and conduct testing to validate the design and make necessary adjustments.
  • Review of Fabrication Drawings, Assembly Drawings, Bills of Materials, General Arrangement Drawings, Equipment Layouts and supports the development of change orders, etc.
  • Assist the project managers with client needs by taking part in client meetings or calls, as needed.
  • Evaluate and recommend cost-effective design options without compromising quality and performance.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (fabrication, sales, etc.) and external stakeholders (vendors, owners, owners’ engineers, etc.) to achieve desired project outcomes.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices and technologies through training and self-improvement initiatives.
  • Help in the continual improvement of AWC’s Quality Management System’s practices, procedures, templates, and checklists by participating in design reviews, feedback sessions, and process improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to Junior staff.
  • Have achieved or working towards P.Eng. registration in the province of BC or Alberta.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-10 years of work experience designing, sizing, and selecting mechanical equipment such as:
  • Rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, flocculators, power transmission systems etc.)
  • Static equipment (piping & valving, pressure vessels, tanks, heaters, etc.)
  • Experience with pipe stress analysis is an asset.
  • Experience with fabrication and/or construction of systems is an asset.
  • Experience with water treatment is an asset.
  • Strong communication and written skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite, exposure to Autodesk products is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of engineering first principles utilized in the design of mechanical and piping systems is an asset.
