VulcanX Energy Corp. leads the industry with its groundbreaking patented technology, focused on the efficient production of low-cost, low-emission hydrogen and solid carbon through natural gas pyrolysis (thermal cracking). Building on substantial advancements achieved in the laboratory, as well as successful de-risking in the hydrogen production demonstration plant, VulcanX is now poised to further scale its natural gas pyrolysis technology. Our current focus lies in the development of FEED and detailed engineering designs for our pre-commercial plant, marking a pivotal phase in the de-risking process and paving the way for widespread commercialization. JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Mechanical/Piping Drafter to join our dynamic team and support the FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations of VulcanX’s hydrogen production plants. As an integral member of the team, you will have the opportunity to be involved in the mechanical and piping drafting of this novel technology. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of industrial experience in chemical plant design, with a strong background in pressure vessel systems, high-temperature hydrocarbon pyrolysis, corrosive environments, and a deep understanding of hydrogen systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree with a technical diploma in Drafting/CADD
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in the oil and gas industry, and chemical process design, with a focus on pressure vessel systems and high-temperature systems
- 3+ years of work experience in EPC companies is an asset.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks and use judgment to solve problems based on guidelines and procedures
- Solid understanding of engineering codes and standards
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD, including 2D and 3D modeling functions
- Familiarity with 3D software such as CADWorx, Plant 3D, Navisworks would be an asset
- Strong ability to track progress and prepare status reports.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to perform and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills to effectively liaise with VulcanX’s engineering team and stakeholders.
- Assists other engineers in executing engineering tasks and works following established engineering practices and drafting protocols
- Produces a variety of project drawings including piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), system schematics, piping layouts, isometrics, 3D models, line designation tables, material take-offs, and other drawings as required.
- Drafting documents for other types of disciplines (electrical, structural, civil, etc.)
- Generates construction and fabrication drawings for manufacturing using CADD systems for a variety of large complex commercial and industrial components.
- Interprets and carries out creative ideas proposed by other engineers or technologists
- Perform project drawing checking and work closely with the engineering teams to ensure compliance with codes and standards
- Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, reliability, and ethical conduct in all aspects of the role.
