Sonic Incytes, a start-up company founded in Vancouver, BC, is committed to enhancing patient care through innovative diagnostic solutions. The company’s flagship product, VELACUR™, equips physicians with an advanced liver imaging tool to combat the growing epidemic of fatty liver disease. VELACUR is an AI guided 3D S-WAVE ultrasound elastography device that measures liver stiffness and attenuation, the two key indicators of fatty liver disease.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years experience in mechatronics product design and manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Circuit design and PCB design.
- Knowledge of electrical safety and EMC/EMI testing (IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2).
- Experience with sensors (IMU, Accelerometer) and microcontroller-based systems.
- Ability to operate machine shop equipment (hand tools, drill press, soldering, 3D printer).
- Excellent communicator, capable of producing clearly written reports.
- Strong interpersonal skills essential for effective collaboration within a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Excited to work in a fast-paced environment with lots of opportunities for growth.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in Biomedical Engineering.
- Experience in sourcing components and interacting with vendors.
- Understanding of materials, plastic, and metal production processes.

Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
Sonic Incytes is searching for an innovative, deadline-driven Intermediate Mechatronics Engineer, with experience in electrical design and medical device manufacturing, to join our growing team. This role is responsible for the full manufacturing process, including designing and developing hardware components, part selection, PCB design, prototyping, manufacturing, testing, regulatory compliance, and troubleshooting.
To be successful as a Intermediate Mechatronics Engineer at Sonic Incytes, you should be able to work within demanding timeframes and develop original, practical solutions to problems. Outstanding candidates draw on a wide range of electrical and mechanical engineering principles and are not afraid to explore uncharted territory.
This role reports to the Director of Product Development and is an in-person position in Vancouver, BC. If you are looking for a fast-paced, start-up environment with lots of opportunities for growth, this role is for you!
