We are currently looking for an experienced Intermediate Municipal Engineer to lead and grow a municipal engineering team within our Calgary or Edmonton based Municipal Infrastructure Group. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills and demonstrated experience managing a diverse range of municipal projects of varying scope and size for municipalities, developers, and First Nations clients.
The ideal candidate is passionate and enjoys working on a wide variety of municipal projects, such as urban roads, water and wastewater infrastructure, storm water management, flood protection, utility upgrades, and site grading and servicing.
QUALIFICATIONS THAT WOULD MAKE YOU A GREAT CANDIDATE:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- 5 -15 years of progressive experience in Municipal Engineering and Project Management, preferably in the consulting industry.
- Experience or aptitude for proposal writing, client development, working in a team setting to meet timelines, and other skills appropriate to consulting.
- Registered (or eligible to register) as a Civil Engineer with APEGA.
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
Responsibilities:
- Leading a team of Engineers and Designers on municipal projects, from inception through to construction.
- Managing Municipal Engineering projects including Financial Controls, Project Management, and Client Relationships, in accordance with our Quality Management System.
- Preparation of proposals, reports, preliminary and detailed designs, cost estimates, specifications, contract documents, tendering, and contract administration.
- Collaborating on projects with other professionals, including Geotechnical Engineers, Environmental Scientists, Planners, and Landscape Architects.
- Planning projects, developing accurate scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules.
- Liaising with clients, consultants, regulatory and utility agencies, and contractors.
- Providing technical mentorship to staff.
