Description:

InnoTech Alberta is seeking an Intermediate Researcher to support our Hydrogen service offering, working from our Edmonton office. This position will report to the Hydrogen Lead within the Carbon Capture Utilization & Decarbonization (CCUD) Team in our Environmental Services Division. This position will be primarily responsible for business development, preparation of technical proposals and contracts, project development and management, analysis, interpretation, and communication of project results, collaboration with colleagues, clients, and external experts, with a focus on hydrogen technology development and research. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to effective collaboration with a diverse, multidisciplinary team will be crucial to success in this position.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

Bachelor’s degree (Master or PhD degree preferred) in an applied science discipline with an emphasis on chemical, mechanical, materials, or petroleum engineering, chemistry, physics, or related disciplines.
Current membership or eligibility for membership with APEGA (EIT or GIT), ACPA (CIT), ASET (C. Tech., C.E.T., R.E.T, or P.Tech.), or other professional designation associated with the candidate’s education.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Minimum of 3 years with a relevant degree, or minimum of 5 years with a relevant diploma, in a position including applied research in an engineering or scientific discipline. Additional experience in the following areas is a benefit:
GHG emissions reduction technology development,
Evaluation of the commercial feasibility of innovative, early-stage technologies,
Work on multi-disciplinary teams,
Balancing scientific/technical, market, and business development requirements to achieve success.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Applied research in an engineering or scientific discipline
Understanding of Alberta’s decarbonization and energy system challenges and opportunities
Application of broadly-sourced technical solutions to address client needs
Wide-ranging understanding of applied science disciplines to enable multidisciplinary projects
Experimental design at various scales (benchtop to pilot)
Engineering / scientific analysis and modelling / simulation
Proven ability to motivate and engage colleagues in a shared vision
Commitment to team success in solving problems and driving initiatives forward
Strategic and systems thinking competencies to support identification and operationalization of the Hydrogen service offering’s priorities within the context of stakeholder and organizational needs.
Self-awareness and dedication to continuous growth
Proficiency in working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including facilitating partnerships across diverse interested parties.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to perform and prioritize multiple tasks, competing resources and client demands.
