Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for an Intermediate Commercial Underwriter or Intermediate Risk Analyst, Trade Credit to join our growing and dynamic team.
As an Intermediate Commercial Underwriter or Intermediate Risk Analyst, Trade Credit team, your work will have a big impact. In this role, you will work with the risk underwriting team to facilitate trade and create capacity for our Trade Credit clients. Your role will include working closely with our commercial underwriters, risks analysts, and support teams, managing a variety of clients in multiple sectors across Canada, participating in important strategic projects and audit initiatives, and working with the management team as required on new projects or prominent accounts.
People will count on you to provide industry-leading customer service and to ensure a consistent application of underwriting guidelines. They will also come to you for your background in financial analysis, your understanding of transaction risks and mitigants, and your experience in structuring policies or other agreements from a profitable growth perspective. You will also be called upon to support the management team in their analysis with respect to operational performance indicators.
This position requires a minimum 2 days in the Toronto, Mississauga, or Ottawa office per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO HERE:

  • Contribute to the buyer review process. You will be assigned a portfolio of buyers to review, assess, and provide credit recommendations.
  • Ensure credit analysis is consistent with our assessment structure, risk management guidelines and applicable rules.
  • Contribute to the success of the Trade Credit Strategic Plan, including but not limited to new business, business retention, creating buyer capacity, and maintaining buyer relationships.
  • Manage a diverse portfolio and develop broker relationships.
  • Gather market intelligence by working directly with management, brokers, and customers.
  • Showcase Intact’s product offering through technical proficiency & develop ability to initiate and close new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to drive growth and improve efficiencies within the Trade Credit group.
  • Have responsibility for providing timely and effective communication with commercial underwriters as well as brokers.
  • Partner with various internal subject matter experts to determine industry trends, risks, submission viability, and identify and apply transactional mitigants.
  • Support performance and growth by helping to set underwriting policies, standards, guidelines, and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities and providing training and coaching to new team members.
  • Build your professional network in order to strengthen and deepen risk analysis and understanding of the various industries in which we have credit exposure.
