Responsibilities:

POSITION PURPOSE

Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Initiatives, the incumbent designs and implements innovative digital communication strategies to optimize the visibility of the service on various communication channels, including senior-level governance, Web and social media. Provides expert advice to members of the service with regards to writing and presenting content to ensure that it is of high quality and complies with relevant policies and procedures. Responsible for the operational processes related to managing the service’s websites. Provides expert change management and communications advice to IT project managers in support of university-wide projects. Supports the Chief Information Officer, Deputy Chief Information Officer and IT Executive members in leadership communications having high impact on the culture and adoption rates of strategic initiatives across the University.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Strategic Planning: Designs and implements innovative digital communication strategies to ensure that the business objectives are met through the design and content of digital products, meeting high quality standards and developed in optimized formats. Conducts analyses and surveys to ensure that these strategies meet the needs of the service, and issues recommendations. Prepares communications strategy for all institutional IT projects to ensure coherence with the university strategic direction.
  • Expert Advice: Provides expert advice to members of the service with regards to writing key messages for presentations and other communication material. Recommends strategic and targeted various media and channels as a marketing and communication tools to optimize use of new technology. Designs change management templates and tools to support technology experts and leadership. Trains and guides project managers and senior leaders in developing content that fosters adherence and engagement to strategic directions and new or modified services and products. Anticipates and plans for impacts of IT changes for various audiences. Provides guidance and is the primary contact for external media requests and needs.
  • Change Management: Creates change management strategies , including developing job aids, communications, marketing for strategic technology and digital initiatives to support optimal change adherence, foster a user-centric environment and maximize productivity gains for users (students, professors, researchers, support staff, alumni, retirees). Provides an integrated approach to communicating changes to students, professors and support staff.
  • Project Management: Plans and manages change management projects. Defines the scope of the project, determines its steps, monitors relevant progress, makes adjustments throughout the process and ensures efficient communication between stakeholders. Provides a change management and communications toolkit to assist IT project managers with planning in the context of the IT project management framework. Designs effective communication and training products (job aids, web pages, templates, etc.) in support of project success. Provides input to and advises project managers on rollout and deployment strategies for new technologies based on the target audience.
  • Content Development: Generates narratives for presentations that influence and have a direct impact on the audience’s willingness to embrace upcoming changes, and drive employee engagement. Develops content for the CIO and executive team to support change management of critical IT initiatives and employee engagement. Draws connections between the strategic direction and impacts on university community to show the potential of changes. Creates innovative approaches to present content to generate interest and engagement using multimedia tools and new technologies.
