JOB DETAILS:

Tetra Tech’s Winnipeg office is seeking an Intermediate Transportation Engineer to join our growing Roads & Highways Team and help deliver our project backlog. This role will primarily include project work from the Province of Manitoba, City of Winnipeg and other civil infrastructure (roadways and highways) clients, at both the functional / preliminary design stages as well as the detail design / tender stage. Although we undertake a variety of project types, most of our work revolves around roadway reconstruction, alignment modifications, intersection / interchange designs, cross-section development, bridge reconstruction / rehabilitations, and conceptual design studies.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Registration/Education/Tenure

  • Professional Engineer registered with EGM, or eligible for registration with the EGM within 6 months of hire.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience

Project Experience

  • Technical / design experience working on MTI and/or City projects
  • Project experience working on Conceptual Designs, Preliminary Designs, Functional Design and/or Detail Designs

Technical Skills / Abilities

  • Perform / lead geometric designs of roadways, highways, and intersections
  • Develop designs in CAD, including modeling, cross-sections and quantities
  • Cost estimating, tender preparation, and contract administration on transportation projects

Technical Knowledge

  • MTI and City design and approval, project plan administration, and tender processes
  • Detail Design and Tender Package preparation, including field safety work requirements.

Team Organization, Communication, and Mentorship

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and a track record of completing task assignments on time and budget.
  • Contribution to the career development of more junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Liaise with existing and potential clients to understand client needs and business opportunities, and improve our services and quality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of Civil3D and AutoTURN or similar software
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Experience in consulting engineering
  • Experience in overseeing the construction of multi-discipline projects

Responsibilities:

YOUR ROLE:

You would join a Winnipeg-based Team of more than a dozen PMs, engineers, designers, technicians and draftspeople as we deliver roadway and highway related projects within Manitoba and across Canada. You might work on functional and detail design projects for Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure (MTI) highways and City of Winnipeg (City) roads or support, and when ready, lead intersection and interchange design tasks. You might author technical reports, liaise with clients to develop viable alternatives, and coordinate with other disciplines. Or you might inspect contractor works of your designs and directly contribute to the built environment we live in. DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Perform transportation (roadway, highway, AT, etc) design on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Prepare studies, reports, assessments, functional designs/drawings, detailed designs/drawings, and tender documents.
  • Prepare engineering proposals, develop new business opportunities, and maintain client contacts.
  • Participate in the development and growth of the Team, including mentorship.
