Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with minimum 6-8 years of related experience.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in BC with EGBC.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Alberta (APEGA) an asset.
- Experienced in hydrological and hydraulic analysis and modelling using various techniques and modelling software.
- Experienced in infrastructure master planning and flood management planning.
- Experience in stormwater/groundwater balance.
- Experience in the design of stormwater control structures.
- Experience in hydrotechnical assessment, including climate change factoring related to flood and drought.
- Proficient in using AutoCAD, Civil3D, ArcGIS or QGIS, PCSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS and other computer programs used for preparing reports, presentations and designs.
- Experienced in project management.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment
Responsibilities:
Based out of Surrey Office, the Intermediate Water Resources Engineer will support the Infrastructure Planning Group.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed modeling of urban drainage systems, including comprehensive data management, model setup, calibration, validation, and thorough system assessment to ensure accurate, reliable results.
- Model and simulate the hydraulics of urban drainage systems using specialized software (1D, 2D and 3D).
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modelling for the design of culverts, ditches, spillways, detention ponds, and enclosed drainage systems.
- Lead the development and optimization of infrastructure servicing plans for subdivisions, neighborhoods, and city-wide areas.
- Perform hydrological and hydraulic modelling and lead the development of Integrated Stormwater Management Plans and Flood Management Plans.
- Develop rainwater source control LID concepts and assist in LID designs .
- Be responsible for flood assessment and management plans.
- Perform technical analysis in support Civil engineering design associated with municipal water, sanitary sewer, drainage conveyance works and hydraulic structures.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams regarding drainage requirements for projects.
- Prepare construction cost estimates, implementation plan and operation and maintenance manuals.
- Write and review of technical memorandums and reports.
Additional responsibilities will include client communication and management; assistance with proposal preparation; coordination with subconsultants, regulatory agencies, project planning, budgeting, scheduling and other project management tasks.
