Job Description
Our Global Architecture & Urbanism Division combines the expertise of IBI’s Buildings and Placemaking practice, our Places’ capabilities, and CRTKL’s multi-sector design leadership to offer a diverse range of solutions focusing on human-centric design, sustainability, and technology.
Arcadis is looking for an Intern Architect to join our Industrial facilities Practice Group in Toronto. Candidate should have experience in the architectural field and urban planning, architectural design, project coordination, contract documentation, construction procurement, and contract administration for a variety of Institutional and Industrial projects. You will be responsible for design of new and existing facilities from conception to substantial performance/completion.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in an architectural firm with a focus on Revit based projects
  • Registered with the Ontario Association of Architects OAA as an Intern Architect and working towards full licensing
  • MUST have hands-on experience with Revit and AutoCAD
  • MUST have high proficiency in developing architectural drawing packages and knowledgeable with detailing, 3D modeling using Sketchup and experience with Microsoft Office
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Transit and industrial experience preferred.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with clients and consultants
  • Self-motivated, well organized, with a demonstrated passion for design excellence
  • Knowledge of Ontario Building Code and Ontario Building Systems is expected
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure whilst simultaneously able to complete work and meet deadlines effectively
  • Experience with passive house and Net-Zero carbon facilities, and transit vehicle electrification upgrades is an asset
  • Site experience is an asset
  • A great roll-up-your-sleeves attitude where no task is too big nor too small, great critical thinking skills with an ability to think outside the box and work with minimal supervision
    Additional Information

Responsibilities:

  • Focus on design phases of projects, with emphasis on concept and schematic design stages
  • Ability to produce 2D drawings and 3D models, prepare design presentations and renderings
  • Preparing drawings for Rezoning (ZBA), Official Plan Amendment (OPA) and Site Plan Approval (SPA) related submissions
  • Design development for the purposes of SPA
  • Coordinating with project team members including consultants
  • Work on multiple projects at the same time, while consistently meeting deadlines and ensuring high quality work is produced.
  • You will work closely with the Project Manager and coordinate with other staff members as well as coordinating all aspects of the project at the concept design, schematic design and design development stages with the Mechanical, Electrical and Structural and other consultants
  • Assist Project Architect leading and managing daily project duties
  • Prepare design drawings with BIM (Revit) or AutoCAD for projects.
  • Regular coordination and communication within the production team as project move from design to Working Drawings stage
  • Keeping up to date on codes, construction practices, products, and technology.
