At Laerdal, we are dedicated to making a difference and our mission is to help save lives. Our summer internships give students an opportunity to gain unique work experience in our way of working and our culture in a buzzing environment. The program lasts for eight weeks between June and August in Stavanger.
Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Our previous summer interns have developed concepts and prototypes for cyanosis, leg fracture reposition, lung response, and IV trainers. Most students face similar challenges. We strive to give a varied experience of the normal working challenges at Laerdal, and our summer students usually spend time on:
An innovative student project solving a product need
Normal engineering work on our existing projects, and helping engineers with documentation and testing
Other lower-level odd tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Planning & Tracking
- Ensure tasks are done on time to the agreed scope and quality. Systemically plan & document tasks, track & document progress and proactively mitigate to achieve desired outcome. Provide work-breakdown and estimates
User Needs
- Have basic understanding of users and user needs, and be able to gather these from users’ asses and group the needs
Technical competence
- Possess basic principle within relevant technical field, being mechanics, mechatronics, cybernetics, robotics, electronics, firmware programming, polymer technology, material technology, testing & quality assurance.
Testing and investigation
- Planning & conducting tests & reporting (to support investigations and to prove design solutions during product development)
Prototypes & Pilots
- Digital and physical ‘hands-on’ fabrication/development of prototypes, mock-ups, concept models and drive pilot builds. Integrate (planning & execution) with other discipline efforts e.g. Software, Electronics, Materials, Design, T&V etc. ensuring that output satisfies requirements.
WHO WE ENVISION WOULD FIT THIS ROLE
- Ongoing education at master’s or bachelor level within Product development, mechanics, material technology, electronics, mechatronics, cybernetics, robotics, firmware programming, polymer technology, testing & quality assurance or similar
- Available to work at least 8 weeks during the summer of 2025.
