Description:
Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is leading the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.
The Intern, Learning & Development coordinates and provides support for a specific team within the larger HR department called Talent Development and Learning. This role reports into the Director, Talent Development and Learning.
Responsibilities:
- Coordination of various tasks and learning projects with helpful supervision, and the ability to optimize and improve current practices.
- Talent program execution work including registration support, scheduling, venue and materials preparation, vendor management, participant reporting, compliance training (working closely with our Operations teams).
- Assisting with learning management system catalogue clean-up, tracking of learning data, organizing courses/curriculum, plus LMS readiness work (current LMS clean-up).
- Assisting with the collection of internal and external information for reports and statistical research related to key learning trends and best practices.
- Preparing and editing correspondence with participants, learning reports, and helping create frequent presentations for various target audiences.
- Working directly with key personnel and stakeholders to deliver on a variety of talent development projects related to new program builds and the creation of supporting resources.
- Implementation of process improvements and best practices in order to achieve departmental efficiencies and enhance service to internal customers (participants).
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
