JOB DESCRIPTION

The Paris Agreement, adopted under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2015, represents a milestone in international climate policy: The overarching goal is to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, for which national climate targets (Nationally Determined Contributions, short: NDCs) are central. Supporting climate protection and sustainable development in developing and emerging countries is one of the priorities of the german development policy.
The global project “NDC Assist II” cooperates closely with eight partner countries to support the successful implementation of their NDCs, to leverage climate finance and for sustainable development.
An intern would help to support various parts of the project. The NDC Assist II project is based in Bonn, with one or two colleagues based in each of the partner countries, where the project works closely with political partner institutions.

Responsibilities:

YOUR TASKS

During your internship in the NDC Assist II project, you will gain an insight into the day-to-day business of GIZ’s internal and external structure and the work of a global project. Under the guidance of your supervisor, you will support the project management with organizational tasks, take over the coordination with the actors in the partner countries and support in the communication of project outcomes and the preparation of communication documents.

The tasks include, among others:

  • Support the organisation of trainings and workshops with international participants, both in Germany and in project partner countries, e. g. drafting concept notes, invitation management, technical support, travel organization support
  • Contact and stakeholder management for official meetings and workshops with political partners in the partner countries
  • Support in content preparation for meetings with international stakeholders in the partner countries, e. g. preparing PPTs, concept notes, minutes
  • Support of communication work of the project, e. g. preparing official communication documents like project update reports and newsletters
  • Conduct research and develop technical documents, e. g. factsheets, in the areas climate action, adaptation to climate change, carbon markets, international climate policy and sustainable development
  • Support in GIZ data and knowledge management of the project
