Description:
Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.
The Intern, Outfit Engineering will be responsible for assisting Naval Architects and Mechanical Engineers in the successful completion of engineering tasks. This is a unique opportunity that will provide you with exposure to naval architecture, steel outfitting and joinery systems from the design and concept preparation phases, through to production engineering and the construction of the vessel. The incumbent will work closely with Engineers either on the Multi-Purpose Vessels (MPV) & the Polar Icebreaker.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing design schematics and detail drawings to support contract design requirements.
- Support the development/maintenance of the vessel’s bill of materials
- Support the vessel’s design acceptance
- Support the development/update of design requirements
- Collaborating closely with colleagues to solve production issues.
- Generate reports and draft manufacturing details.
