Description:

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.
As an Intern, Welding Engineering, you will be responsible for development of welding procedures, supporting technical department and production team, conducting failure and root cause analysis on welding related issues, etc. This internship will provide exposure to weld/material testing procedure in one of a kind metallurgical testing lab, with a team of professional engineers in one of the largest shipbuilding programs of our time.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in development of Welding Procedure Specification.
  • Support testing procedures in Metallurgical Laboratory.
  • Support Welding Quality Management System (WQMS) initiative
  • Assist in reviewing/organizing Welding Procedure Database.
  • Work on special project as assigned by Welding Engineering and Welding Quality Senior Manager.
