Responsibilities:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key duties

  • Management, representation at and/or administrative oversight of appropriate admissions committees including responsibility for ensuring admissions policy is appropriately presented to committees for approval or note.
  • Oversight of all local Finance (including the tender process), HR, and SHEW (Safety, Health, Environment and Wellbeing) requirements for Admissions. This includes ensuring changes in policy and procedures are implemented with timely provision of guidance and updates.
  • Lead on the provision of support and guidance for staff recruitment, new starters, induction, probation, and performance management.
  • Lead on the management and maintenance of admissions systems. This will include working with the Deputy Head of Admissions (DHoA) and Operations Managers to ensure updates are completed and tested, including annual system roll-over. Including input on future systems and requirements
  • Lead on the management of processes related to programme approval, discontinuation and withdrawal. Providing clear, accurate and timely information.
  • Oversight of updates to programme fees, entry requirements and course information, ensuring appropriate tests and checks are in place and compliance with CMA requirements.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key contacts to improve information, operational tools and guidance, and service levels. This will include developing communication links with the University’s Schools/Directorates and external bodies as required.
  • Support tender processes related to admissions improvements and projects, in collaboration with the Head of Admissions (HoA) and DHoA.
  • Develop policies and procedures with the HoA and the admissions team to meet institutional, legislative and regulatory requirements, supported by sector-wide best practices and meeting QAA requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of trends and external issues affecting university admissions, such as changes in government policy, curriculum reforms, widening participation, and demographic trends.
  • Work with the DHoA and Operations Managers to create internal standard operating procedures for all areas of admissions work and develop training materials for all staff involved in admissions.

Specific Duties

  • Line management of the Deputy Support Team Manager and Fraud and Compliance Officer.
  • Manage the performance, induction, and development of the Support Team, ensuring communication of and engagement with departmental objectives; planning, organising, and delegating work, monitoring progress, and ensuring interventions are in place as needed.
  • Provide policy, compliance, and legal information on admissions matters to senior staff and colleagues involved in recruitment and admissions activities.
  • Provide guidance to ensure admissions processes and procedures cover all entry levels, including the collection and revision of central entry criteria, assessing application requirements, enquiry management, communications, process improvements, and system updates.
