Description:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- Postgraduate degree at PhD level in a related subject area or equivalent or relevant industrial experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- An established expertise and proven portfolio of research and/or relevant industrial experience within the following research fields:
i. Viral vectors – including vector design, propagation, characterisation and evaluation
ii. Cell biology – including assays for cell viability, cell signalling and reporter gene assays
iii. Immunology – including assays to quantify immune cell activation - Knowledge of current status of research in advanced cancer therapies, especially oncolytic virotherapies and cancer immunotherapies
- Proven ability to publish in national journals and contribute peer reviewed abstracts to national and/or international conferences
- Knowledge and understanding of competitive research funding to be able to develop applications to funding bodies
Responsibilities:
JOB PURPOSE
To conduct research within the area novel oncolytic virotherapies, and their application in glioma (brain cancers). The candidate will have experience in the genetic engineering of viral vector platforms for translational applications, as well as producing and testing these agents for their ability to stimulate immune mediated cancer cell killing. They will contribute to the overall research performance of the School and University, carrying out research leading to the publishing of work in high-quality journals. To pursue excellence in research and to inspire others to do the same.
