Responsibilities:
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Research
- To contribute to the overall research performance of the School and University through conducting research in Roman archaeology to achieve the measurable outputs of the RoBMobS project including publishing in national academic journals.
- To undertake administrative tasks associated with the research project, including, but not limited to, liaising with project partner organisations in commercial archaeology to arrange sampling visits, partner staff time, data access and financial administration of consultancy payments.
- To review and synthesise existing research literature within the field, including both archaeological and historical evidence.
- To build and populate the project database of site, osteological, and artefactual data utilising existing data structures and datasets, and adding new data.
- To contribute to the analysis of artefactual and site data in relation to scientific data.
- To receive full training in, and undertake, radiocarbon dating sample selection, liaison with the Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit, and modelling of radiocarbon results.
- To contribute to archaeological reports on sampled assemblages for stakeholders.
- To attend and or present at conferences/seminars at regional, national and international levels, and participate in School research activities.
Other
- To engage effectively with industrial, commercial and public sector organisations, professional institutions, other academic institutions etc., regionally and nationally to raise awareness of the School’s profile, to cultivate strategically valuable alliances, and to pursue opportunities for collaboration across a range of activities. These activities are expected to contribute to the School and the enhancement of its regional and national profile.
- To undertake public engagement and impact-generating activities in relation to RobMobS, including activities with community groups and societies, museums, and online engagement.
- To undergo personal and professional development that is appropriate to and which will enhance performance.
- To participate in School administration and activities to promote the School and its work to the wider University and the outside world.
- Any other duties not included above, but consistent with the role.
