Internal Communications Officer
Salary: National – ranging from £39,100 – £47,000 and London from £41,600 – £50,000 per annum

In the Communications directorate at the FCA we change opinions and behaviours to enable a fair and thriving financial services market for the good of consumers and the economy. The Internal Communications team is at the heart of the employee experience, managing employee communications across the FCA. The team provides expert advice and guidance to colleagues across the FCA who want to deliver important messages to stakeholders throughout the organisation.

What you will be doing (the role)

  • Work across the Internal Communications team to coordinate messaging for colleagues through our channels
  • Publish news articles on our intranet and wider channels
  • Contribute to the management of our channels and their continuous development to suit the audience and the evolution of internal communications
  • Support on wider internal communications activities, including coordinating and drafting content for our internal newsletters, contributing to keeping our internal communications planner up to date
  • Ensure a balance of content is available to attract readers to our intranet across a variety of personal stories, day to day work and corporate initiatives
  • Managing blog content – both posts and comments
  • Gather data and insights to inform the continual improvement of our internal content and channels
  • Drafting, editing and proofreading content to ensure it is clear, concise and consistent

  • This role will be required to navigate a busy internal publishing schedule, managing and responding to the different demands of the organisation
  • You will work closely with other members of the Internal Communications team to help deliver creative and engaging content so we can communicate effectively with colleagues
  • You will be required to review and edit content, on sometimes complex matters, ensuring we are communicating news to colleagues who need it, at the time they need it and through a range of internal communications channels
  • You will need to develop strong relations with many areas of the organisation and have the ability to meet deadlines
  • The Communications directorate prioritises professional development and you will have access to our communications academy and all the learning opportunities that offers

The skills and experience you will have
Minimum

  • Experience in drafting, editing and proofreading clear, concise and consistent communications
  • Strong organisational skills with experience of managing the planning and coordination of communications
  • Proven ability of building and maintaining effective working relationships with people at all levels, whether internal or external

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as exercise your own judgement and initiative
  • Ability to balance, prioritise and manage competing demands
