Description:

INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS PARTNER

Location: Flexible - you’ll be based in or close to our operating region
Salary: £36,711 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week
Closing Date: {Expiry Date}
We exist to have a positive impact in our communities. Our Internal Communications team plays a vital role in connecting our colleagues and enabling them to help achieve our vision that everyone has a home.
As our Internal Communications Partner you’ll work with our Internal Communications Lead within our wider Employee Experience and Culture team to drive engagement and make sure we’re communicating effectively with all our colleagues.
You’ll get to work for a fast-paced and supportive organisation with a real social purpose, that puts its customers and colleagues at the heart of everything it does.
You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues from across the business to make sure our messaging is consistent and joined up and will be advising stakeholders on the best approach to communicating with our diverse workforce. You’ll be creating communication plans and producing content in lots of different formats to showcase our work, celebrate achievements, support our transformation journey and to tell the stories that matter in an accessible way. Helping to manage and improve our communication channels, this role covers everything from our intranet, print, eshots, podcasts, digital, vlogs, videos, colleague calls and face to face events.
Communication skills are obviously key – we’re looking for someone with excellent written skills who can produce high quality copy with a clear tone of voice. You’ll also need great stakeholder management skills and be able to confidently partner with colleagues across the business to offer advice and guidance on communication approaches.
We’re open to candidates who have a background in internal or external communications – what matters to us most is that you’re a great storyteller with a natural interest in people and an understanding of what makes effective communications. We’re looking for someone who will be keen to understand the nuances of our diverse workforce – which includes colleagues working in desk-based roles as well as carers and trades – so you can really advise on the best way of going about internal communications that will achieve the outcomes needed. You’ll be open to change and new ideas, and ready to flex when needed.
This is a full-time role, but we’re really happy to talk about flexible working – some of our team work condensed hours, for example. We are truly hybrid – so while there will be the need to travel to meet with the team and support the business in-person from time to time, there’s no expectation of a set number of days in an office. It really is based on the work you’re doing and your own preference – some of us come into an office a few times a week, others less so.
Our operating region covers Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and London.
We’re a housing association which provides quality, affordable homes to thousands of people across the south of England and London. Our vision is that everyone has a home. Our culture is centred around making sure every person receives a good service, delivered excellently with a strong local focus.
We’re committed to doing our bit to tackle the housing crisis by delivering a wide range of housing options. Last year, we delivered over 1,300 homes offering affordable and social rent, shared ownership and open market sale options and we’re set to provide a further 1,170 during 2023/24. Looking ahead, we plan to invest £2.3 billion to deliver over 10,000 new homes in the next seven years.
Our business strategy is clear. Our vision is bold. And what sets us apart is The Aster Way.
The Aster Way is not just a set of words. It’s a shared understanding of the way we work – creating a fair and inclusive culture. It’s a set of straightforward principles that underpin everything we do, every day. From how we lead and learn, to how we collaborate, communicate and innovate, this is how we’ll reach our vision - that everyone has a home.

We invest in our colleagues because we know if they have a better day at work, the service our customers receive will be better. The Aster Offer is our offer to our colleagues to ensure they have a great day at work and includes things like:

  • Flexible working – while some roles need to be carried out in a specific place at a specific time, where possible we encourage our colleagues to work to their own schedule at a location that suits them and their team.
  • A focus on colleague wellbeing – workshops, an employee assistance programme offering counselling and support, mental health training and a health cash plan for all
  • We invest in colleagues’ careers and development through our leader and colleague development frameworks
  • Defined Contribution Pension and attached life assurance
  • Volunteering hours available to all colleagues to enable them to give back
  • Savings at cinemas, gyms, holidays, days out, various shops and eateries and lots more
  • Enhanced leave
  • We celebrate colleagues who go above and beyond with a range of personalised thank you and monthly and annual awards.

To apply, please use information provided in the advert and role profile to let us know why you’re right for this the job. Please submit a copy of your up-to-date CV along with a supporting statement.
We create an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity and believe that creating an environment where everyone, from any background, can do their best work is the right thing to do.
