Internal Credit Rating Manager
Salary Circa £75,000
Aviva is building out its internal credit rating team within the IWR Finance Function. This role will work closely with a range of colleagues from the Annuity Asset Origination, Chief Investment Officer and Aviva Investor teams depending on the particular asset class.
A bit about the job:
The internal credit rating team reports into the IWR Actuarial Reserving Lead who supports the UK Life Chief Actuary, who has regulatory responsibility for the appropriateness of the internal credit ratings used.

Assessment and development of new and existing internal credit methodologies, to ensure they remain compliant with the UKL Credit Rating Policy and all relevant regulatory requirements.

  • Undertaking regular reviews of existing methodologies, including appropriate assurance testing, to evidence ongoing compliance.
  • Presenting output of reviews to expert judgement panels and key forums/committees who are formed to support the discharge of the Chief Actuary’s responsibilities regarding approval of internal credit ratings.
  • Undertake annual review of Aviva’s internal and external asset managers.
  • Undertake deep dive reviews as proposed by the Life Actuarial Reserving Lead or the Rating Methodology Senior Managers to provide assurance that operational controls and governance. arrangements are working effectively, recommending actions to address and/or mitigate gaps.
  • Deputise for either of the Rating Methodology Oversight Senior Managers as required.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Good understanding of credit ratings across several types of assets.
  • Experience working at a rating agency or in a related credit environment (banking or asset manager preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • A solid technical background, sufficient to grasp the main features of more complex rating methods (i.e., those typically based on internal bespoke models) and challenge more expert colleagues on whether the complexity is justified, learning more about bespoke UK Life models as the role develops.

  • Salary Circa £75,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
