Responsibilities:
As our Internal Emergency Planning Advisor you will be responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Council’s Emergency Management Plan, ensuring the effective protection of Council assets. This role involves managing and coordinating Council’s internal emergency management in planning, preparedness, prevention, response, and recovery functions. Some key responsibilities of the position are:
- Collaborate with the Director Infrastructure Delivery, Manager Governance, other relevant council staff, agencies, and key stakeholders to develop strategic and operational plans for measurable improvements in emergency response processes.
- Establish integrated approaches to fire and flood planning within Council and across the Shire.
- Conduct research into emergency management issues and develop appropriate policies and strategies.
- Liaise and consult with relevant staff to ensure effective communication methods are in place during emergency events.
- Promote best practice emergency management through education and consultation.
- Provide specialised advice to internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Council’s Emergency Response Management Plan.
- Manage resources, budgets, and equipment necessary for emergency response activities.
