Description:
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
As a Finance Officer, you will be supporting the delivery of a range of quality and cost effective financial management and budgets within Property Services including fee income.
This is for a limited term contract until October 2025.
We are also offering this as an internal secondment opportunity, you should first seek your line managers permission before applying.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- We require you to be qualified, or working towards Accounting Technician Association, or have bookkeeping and accountancy experience and knowledge of financial systems.
- It is essential that you have knowledge and experience of working in an organisation that delivers a range of quality and cost-effective financial management and financial support services.
- You must have experience of working in a team to deliver a quality and cost-effective financial management and financial support services and of preparing financial and budget information (revenue and capital) for budget holders.
- You will have good interpersonal skills to establish a positive relationship with a wide variety of stakeholders with the ability to demonstrate clear and logical thinking in assessing challenges and problem solving
- We require you to have good numeracy and literacy skills and be familiar with report writing, presentations and IT skills
- You must have the ability to work with competing demands and deliver to deadlines and work on your own initiative and prioritise your workload effectively.
Responsibilities:
- You will be the key point of contact for budget holders and be responsible for the preparation of budget monitoring information for the Property division’s overall budget.
- In the role you will ensure that all costs are recovered from tenants occupying the Council’s property in accordance with relevant leases, licenses etc.
- In liaison with professional staff across Property Services , you will be responsible for the monitoring of fee income, that this is charged correctly and recorded appropriately and that timesheets are submitted.
- You will be preparing detailed project cost reports to support the development of quarterly capital monitors and raising orders for authorisation by relevant managers, undertake financial vetting and manage grants.
- You will be responsible for ensuring prompt follow up on requests that are received from both internal and external customers.
- It is essential that you use your own initiative, developing and prioritising your work to meet set deadlines. You will also manage your own time to ensure key deadlines are met.
