Effective Date: August 2024 to September 27, 2025
This is a temporary replacement position for a bargaining unit employee. Terms and conditions of employment are as outlined in the Support Staff Collective Agreement.
Reporting to the Director, Global Engagement, the incumbent provides financial and administrative support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successfully completed a two-year postsecondary diploma in a relevant field of study that may include, but is not limited to business administration or accounting / financial management
  • A minimum of two years of experience providing accounting / budget support and processing foreign transactions outside of Canada
  • Proficiency with the MS Office Suite especially with spreadsheet creation and data manipulation (i.e. formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Experience using a financial information / accounting system (preferably PeopleSoft)
  • Experience using a student information system (preferably Banner) is an asset
  • Ability to analyze data to identify and evaluate financial trends
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and public sector accounting standards is an asset
  • Attention to detail with the proven ability to be detail oriented
  • Organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and complete various complex tasks with multiple competing deadlines
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Responsibilities:

  • Providing financial support for the International Department
  • Administering budget forecasts for short-term projects
  • Tracking departmental accounts payable / receivable invoicing requests and journal entries for budget and departmental transfers
  • Reconciling monthly credit card statements and ensuring any travel expenses are in compliance with college policies and Public Sector Standards
  • Liaises with accounting and administers agent commission calculations and payment processing
  • Assisting with In-Country Representative expense processing
  • Assisting in preparing costs budgets for projects and matching actual expenses / revenues as it is allocated
  • Preparing analytical financial analysis for budget administration, including variances, performance metrics, costs and other statistical requirements
  • Handling financial inquiries and responding to electronic requests for information
  • Assisting with the identification of year end accruals required
  • Creating ad hoc reports / spreadsheets as requested.
