About the College/Department
Our External Relations team are responsible for promoting and raising awareness of our University’s brand in the UK and overseas. From creating all messaging and content for external campaigns and our website, to social media, and managing events – ours is a highly complex and expert marketing, PR and Internal Comms environment, key to making the University shine.
As International Recruitment Lead, you will join our International Recruitment team which sits in the wider Stakeholder Relations team. The International Recruitment team supports overseas student applications, and works with a network of educational agent representatives in most countries around the world.
About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity to join the team as International Recruitment Lead for the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan. The University has been successful in building up its business across all regions and is looking for an ambitious sales professional to take the business to the next level.
You will have experience of developing and delivering plans for student recruitment in the region as well as providing support for cross-team activities delivered within the External Relations department.
This role will focus on generating and delivering student recruitment activity within either of these regions, using relevant market performance and management data.
You will be expected to undertake a considerable amount of travel both in the UK and overseas.

We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in international student recruitment and a track record of meeting challenging targets. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of global education systems and student recruitment requirements.
Strong negotiation skills are essential, with the ability to influence and persuade clients to achieve desired outcomes.

Principal accountabilities

  • Delivery of international recruitment targets for the specific region.
  • Development, agreement, and delivery of student recruitment plans for specified markets in line with agreed departmental and institutional plans. Produce and distribute relevant market performance and management data in support of international recruitment activity.
  • Planning and attendance at student recruitment events in target markets, including making arrangements for travel, accommodation and freight for marketing materials.
  • Planning and liaising for online activities, such as webinars and social media activities, to support recruitment plans.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and counselling to prospective students, potential sponsors and other key stakeholders in the student recruitment process.
  • Manage a network of educational / recruitment agents in the agreed region. This will include agreement and selection of educational agencies, setting and managing performance targets, and ongoing monitoring and support.
  • Develop links and relationships with schools, colleges, universities, academic institutions, ministry contacts, UoD alumni and other contacts to support UoD recruitment activities.
  • Contribute to the development of relevant international web pages and promotional materials, for internal and external distribution within agreed institutional guidelines.
  • Liaise with the Customer Relationship Management and Admissions systems for the maintenance of a database of leads, enquiries and applicants.
  • Undertake duties, as required, in support of operational demands within the department.

Person specification

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification / level of experience in a similar role

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of working to stretch targets in an international recruitment environment
  • Proven track record in direct sales / marketing
  • Experience of managing agents and customer relationship management

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

  • Extensive knowledge of the recruitment of students, including knowledge of education requirements and systems
  • Able to produce written communications and documentation to a high standard
  • Adept at client negotiation and able to persuade and influence to achieve desired outcomes
  • Able to build and utilise relationships with global networks to achieve desired outcomes
  • Able to communicate effectively and build cohesive working relationships with stakeholder at different levels of seniority both internally and externally to the organisations
  • Proficient digital capabilities and ability to produce and analyse management reports
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity to the needs of international clients and students
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and when required work independently using initiative and without close supervision
  • Demonstrate the core values of the University and represent the organisation in a positive and professional manner

BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS

  • Able and willing to work flexibly - including weekends, this could include travel time as well as event delivery
  • Able and willing to undertake significant overseas travel on behalf of the university for up to 12 weeks of the year
