Position: International Tax Analyst
Location: Vancouver, Canada
Department: Legal, Tax, and Insurance
Reports To: Director, International Tax
POSITION SUMMARY
The International Tax Analyst will perform a variety of functions related to the Canadian, U.S. and international tax aspects of Seapeak’s operations and planning strategies. The International Tax Analyst will have the desire and aptitude to learn U.S. and international tax rules.

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA) or equivalent foreign designation, or relevant tax qualification, with at least 3 years of corporate tax experience (exposure to international and/or US tax experience and cross-border ownership structures is preferred).
- Demonstrable ability to address complex tax matters, demonstrated through written advice and presentations of issues.
- Demonstrable ability to manage complex projects and workloads, diverse inputs, and compressed timelines.
- In-Depth Tax course (level 3 preferred) or equivalent non-Canadian tax course in progress.
- Excel at research, analysis, and communication of complex tax matters.
- Excellent organization, time management skills, and attention to detail.
- Strong team player able to adapt to different people and situations.
- Proficiency with computer software (Taxprep, Microsoft Excel,)
Responsibilities:
Tender projects:
- Review tender proposals, identify and analyse preliminary tax issues to consider and highlight issues.
- Prepare tax projection calculations for tender models or review Business Development models to ensure tax costs are estimated appropriately.
- Provide support for the determination of tax structure including consideration for future cash repatriation, vessel flag requirements, and financing requirements.
- Coordinate with Legal and Business Development for the execution of the tender.
Internal tax planning initiatives:
- Develop step plans for internal review (include pre-and-post transaction clean ups) to ensure business and tax objectives are achieved.
- Coordinate with internal users (Legal, Accounting and Treasury) to confirm the proposed plan achieves the objective of each user.
- Research, analyze and document international tax issues relating to initiatives.
- Document internal and external tax advice.
Global tax risk management objectives:
- Support with Sub-section 250(6) compliance, including review of computations and technical research.
- Maintain corporate governance checklist.
- Manage cashflow information and documentation.
Seapeak’s global tax compliance:
- US, Canadian, and international (EU, Asia, and other) compliance matters:
- Addressing FATCA enquires.
- Work with external advisors to ensure Seapeak’s US, Canadian, and international tax filing obligations are completed.
- Provide support on tax authority correspondence by drafting preliminary responses to tax authority requests.
- Prepare FIN48 quarterly accrual calculation
- Prepare documents to provide to external auditors for year-end requests / SOX
- Assist with tax provision review.
- Assist with 20F review.
- Prepare Canadian corporate tax returns.
