EXPERIENCE LEVEL:
Student
Responsibilities:
- Improve the simulation environment in Simulink to generate flight trajectories and simulated radio and inertial measurements of the aircraft and DeckFinder system. This involves optimising existing models, creating new models and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the simulated data.
- Introduce the effect of physical obstacles and the aircraft body on radio measurements into the simulation environment. This requires an understanding of radio propagation and the ability to accurately model these effects.
- Integrate improvements into the existing test environment to use the simulation for performance and stability testsing of DeckFinder SW. This requires an understanding of software integration and testing methodologies.
- Conduct a simulation study to determine the best ground segment unit (GSU) placement and optimal trajectory planning, taking into account factors such as served volume, antenna radiation pattern and geometric dilution of precision (GDOP).
- Conduct a feasibility study on how to integrate RF effects of radio airborne and ground pair into the simulation environment. This will involve modeling the effects of antenna radiation pattern, their position and attitude, and integrating these models into the existing simulation environment.
