Description:
We are looking for a motivated intern to help us strengthen our focus on digital accessibility and inclusion. With evolving regulations, such as the European Accessibility Act (EAA) taking effect in 2025 and the ongoing revision of Switzerland’s BehiG, accessibility is becoming increasingly important for businesses in the digital space. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to real projects and enhance existing digital solutions. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will help create practical guidelines for implementing accessibility in projects, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the field of digital inclusion.
In this role, you will familiarize yourself with the WCAG guidelines, accessibility standards, and testing tools. Working alongside experienced accessibility professionals, you will consolidate best practices for accessibility reviews and apply them to real projects, identifying issues and proposing effective solutions. This will involve the implementation of accessibility improvements according to the Web standards (HTML, CSS, ARIA attributes). A key responsibility will be creating an Accessibility Report Template, testing it on real projects to ensure it is suitable for audits across various digital projects.
To promote accessibility awareness both within and beyond ELCA and ensure the template’s effective use, you will also develop practical training materials tailored to different roles (e.g. developers, designers, and testers). This role provides a chance to work on meaningful projects in collaboration with experts and contribute to creating more inclusive and user-friendly digital experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Familiarize yourself with the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines and EAA requirements.
- Research and evaluate tools for accessibility testing and reviews.
- Consolidate best practices for accessibility reviews and apply them to real projects.
- Identify accessibility issues, propose solutions, and collaborate with developers and UX designers to address them.
- Develop templates, reports, and training materials for accessibility audit and implementation.
