About the job
During this internship you will be part of our Innovation Design and Development Center for Powders, based in Utrecht, focusing on Specialized Nutrition. This role will focus on product development of milk formulae produced by our European factories. This internship project consists of assessing the physicochemical, sensorial, processing and nutritional impact in product level from potential changes in protein sources.
Overall, you will gain an in-depth understanding of our recipe portfolio and the core principles of recipe design. You will be in close collaboration with factories, interact with different departments and gain experience in a multicultural company responsible for providing products to consumers globally.
There are also some compulsory requirements:
- Enrolled as a Bachelors/Masters student in the field of Food Science, Product Design, Food Engineering, Food Technology, or related field during the whole internship period (if you are a non-EU citizen, you need to be enrolled at a Dutch university);
- Ideally available to start in January for a minimum of 6 months, 5 days per week;
- You are fluent in English - spoken and written;
- You are able to work from Utrecht, NL, at least 3-4 times per week;
- Please note that you are required to relocate to the Netherlands (if abroad) for this internship and get a BSN
Responsibilities:
- Understand the impact of different protein sources in process and product:
- Ensure a correct database for dairy ingredients.
- Performing theoretical nutritional assessments in our recipes using different protein matrixes.
- Designing new recipes using our internal software.
- Performing pilot trials.
- Performing lab scale analysis for physicochemical properties.
- Implement the learnings into practical solutions by:
- Preparing a detailed report with your outcome.
- Presenting and communicating the findings to a cross-functional community in order to be applied on industrial scale.
You will be part of the Productivity team and you will be closely supervised by Rafaela Raymundo, Product Design & Development Manager. The position involves a lot of cross-functional work, especially with C&P, PAT and communication with higher management.
About you
As a Product Design & Development Productivity intern, having a broad knowledge on nutrients of ingredients and an analytical mindset will be second nature to you. You can dig into data, have the ability to work autonomously, and understand how your findings impact the business. On top of that? You’re a proactive person who can reach out to people when necessary, and who’s always looking for opportunities to learn and develop.
