TB HIV Care (THC), in existence since 1929, is an internationally recognised non-profit organisation. We provide health care services throughout South Africa to both the general population and communities at increased risk for HIV and TB, including adolescent girls and young women, sex workers and people who use drugs. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Social work qualification OR
  • Degree in psychology with at least 6 months experience
  • Counselling training
  • Psychological screening, basic assessment, and psychological interventions.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The purpose of this role is to provide psychosocial interventions to individuals, groups and communities. These may include Prevention and health promotion initiatives and Psychoeducation and assist clients in reaching their optimal level of psychosocial functioning and through resolving negative patterns, prevention, rehabilitation and improving quality of life.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide therapeutic counselling, psycho social support and referral services.
  • Work with stakeholders and partners.
  • Work with individuals, groups and communities to improve mental health.
  • Encourage clients to discuss emotions and experiences.
  • Examine issues including substance abuse, bullying, anger, depression, relationships, self-image, stress and suicide and identify intervention plan.
  • Train and support auxiliary and lay staff to ensure quality counselling and psychosocial support is provided to clients.
  • To keep accurate and confidential client records and standards and statistics for reporting purposes
