Description:

The Internet Strategy and Communications Lead establishes, implements and maintains an intranet content roadmap and strategy for Sheridan’s intranet portal and manages the homepage user experience for four unique audience types (Staff, Faculty, Students, Applicants).
As the Site Administrator, the incumbent oversees the work of content owners across the College, providing technical training, mentorship and coaching while acting as first point-of-contact for technical troubleshooting, helping stakeholders set work priorities and identify objectives that align with organizational goals. The incumbent leads the development of all Intranet-related internal communications project collaborations, including: identifying content strategy project goals and communicating on deliverables and deadlines.
The incumbent is also a leading resource for the development and effective adoption of Intranet technologies, frameworks, and processes in support of Sheridan’s strategic and operational plans. The incumbent contributes to supporting Sheridan’s vision, mission, values and strategic while upholding and advancing its people-centric technology solutions.
The incumbent works closely with developers, designers, vendors and content management teams to ensure the Intranet meets digital internal and external objectives. The incumbent has progressive experience with applying business analysis, user experience design, and change management principles to service/product design, is a strong communicator, well-versed in technical writing, training documentation, UX design and intranet development/strategy, and will possess a background in Technical Writing, Internal or Corporate Communications with project management experience.
The incumbent provides content management expertise, content strategy leadership, and guidance to a broad range of stakeholders.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in Communication, English, Journalism, Marketing or a related field of study 5 years of focused experience managing intranets or other internal communications with an emphasis on product/project management (Equivalencies will be considered)
  • Training obtained through conferences, seminars, experience, professional development, in-class or online learning, specifically a combination of some of the following:
  • Technical Writing Fundamentals
  • Drupal - Open-Source CMS Technology
  • Internal Communications Best Practices and Principles
  • Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK)
  • Change Management principles and techniques (e.g. ADKAR)
  • User Experience Design, Design Thinking, Inclusive Design
  • Project Management Body of Knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience translating technical language into business language as needed to bridge the gap between business and technical professionals.
  • Experience in architecting, developing, and operating mission-critical IT/Communications infrastructure and services.
  • Proven ability to exercise discretion and diplomacy with highly confidential information while executing decisions in a manner consistent with Sheridan’s values.
  • A high degree of technical competency and proficiency using Drupal, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, databases, digital camera (still and video).
  • An intermediate level of competency with photo and video editing software.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Managing and maintaining the Editorial Calendar for the Intranet homepage and other top-level or strategic landing pages within the Intranet to ensure content is relevant and current, providing recommendations and consultation to colleagues and departments throughout the College.
  • Writing, editing, reviewing and approving communications distributed to all employees via the Insider and assists in the dissemination of institutional priorities and policies across the Intranet
  • Overseeing the provision of timely, complete and accurate Intranet communications to inform and educate Sheridan’s four primary internal audiences (Faculty, Staff, Applicants and Current Students) about organizational developments, happenings and news.
  • Working in partnership with Product Lead to architect and develop the intranet, ensuring Drupal project work is aligned with IT/Communications infrastructure, strategic goals, people-centric technology solutions, established processes and best practices.
  • Working in collaboration with vendor, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), PeopleSoft developers and IT teams to create strategies and solutions to address highly technical issues.
  • Developing and recommending digital content strategies and project plans to Working Groups, Departments, Task Forces, Faculties or other internal groups to ensure alignment between institutional objectives and the digital experience on the Intranet to support optimum user experience and engagement.
  • Conducting large-scale audits to identify opportunities for improvement, ensuring that internal communications content is relevant to users; makes recommendations and implements changes based on results.
  • Developing synchronous and asynchronous learning modules, critical training documents, user manuals and instructional videos to support 30+ content owners across the Institution.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
