The Inventory and Procurement Manager - Wire & Cable holds the key accountability of overseeing the Inventory and Procurement department to meet customer service expectations and corporate objectives. This role involves managing inventory levels and product mix at Business Unit locations to enhance financial performance by adhering to established procedures and policies. The manager collaborates with Vendor Relations Managers, Suppliers, Sales and Marketing, and Divisional General Managers to direct purchasing activities and coordinate stock replenishment. Additionally, the Inventory and Procurement Manager supervises employees handling Procurement and Inventory Control activities at Business Unit locations, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations..

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • University/College degree in a relevant field with a minimum of ten years industry experience, including three years in a management role, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Outlook, with knowledge of AS400 system or Gains Systems considered an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret contracts, market reports, product descriptions, and procedure manuals
  • Capable of writing creative routine reports and correspondence
  • Effective verbal communication in front of groups, suppliers, and senior management, with strong negotiation skills
  • Seeking a candidate with strong leadership qualities, business acumen, decision-making skills, results-driven mindset, intellectual agility, interpersonal finesse, adeptness in system management, and proficient negotiation abilities.
  • Must adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations outlined in the Rexel Canada Health & Safety Manual
  • Evaluated on efficiently overseeing inventory and procurement activities, forecasting future trends based on market conditions, and maintaining quality inventory levels and turnover rates

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates inventory reports and sets parameters for optimal customer service and stock turnover
  • Conducts location visits, provides training, and recommends improvements in inventory practices
  • Determines stock levels and product mix, establishes replenishment methods while ensuring customer service
  • Produces guidelines for customer returns, cycle counting, and supplier returns to maintain accuracy
  • Analyzes weekly and monthly service reports to adjust delivery schedules and product availability
  • Sets up and monitors inventory parameters for all locations, analyzes aged and surplus inventory levels
  • Communicates with Vendor Relations Managers to enhance forecasts and anticipate inventory impacts
  • Executes special deals, delivery schedules, returns, and rebates with suppliers
  • Communicates Business Unit requirements to suppliers, guides on industry competition strategies
  • Develops strategies to meet corporate savings objectives and negotiates inventory terms
  • Analyzes and communicates supplier performance, develops plans for process improvement
  • Coordinates Procurement and Inventory activities with vendors and branches
  • Resolves conflicts in Procurement projects, provides guidance to direct reports
  • Reviews and improves the performance of direct reports, maintains a positive work environment
  • Enforces company policies on purchasing practices, manages inventory to meet quality targets
  • Ensures proper application of company policies and procedures for asset management
  • Purchases and maintains inventory levels based on corporate targeted turnover rates.
