Here’s what you’ll be doing….
You’ll be responsible for maintaining a high level of inventory accuracy through cycle count processes, continuous training of users, and transaction audits.
The following illustrative tasks indicate the level of skill required and the extent of responsibility involved in this position. They in no way limit the incumbent to the tasks indicated.

Hours of Work:

  • Monday – Friday 6:00am-2:30pm

Hourly Wage Rate:

  • $23.59

This is a unionized position in the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3261, Full Time

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Maintains and updates inventory records
  • Oversees inventory management procedures
  • Performs all daily activities necessary to maintain effective inventory management procedures
  • Reconciles inventories to book records and makes adjustments when necessary
  • Coordinates the annual physical inventory procedures
  • Recommends programs to improve the management of inventory
  • Oversees recoup program to ensure all damaged/defective product is accounted for and properly handled by either dumping, salvaging or returning to stock
  • Maintains records to accurately track recouped product and return saleable product to stock
  • Oversees inventory quality and accuracy assurance programs
  • Conducts searches to locate products within the system, as necessary
  • Adjusts records when there are discrepancies between actual product and records
  • Ensures corrective measures are followed to prevent discrepancies
  • Audits returns and moves returned product to its proper location
  • Processes documentation to generate a prompt credit transaction
  • Performs weekly cycle counts and adjusts systems as necessary
  • Recommends improvements to maintain tight security over the inventory
  • Maintains accurate inventory records to help facilitate shortage detection
  • Maintains confidentiality of inventory records to UTP
  • Maintains reports and documentation to facilitate accurate inventory counts including records of all audits, counts and adjustments
  • Performs other related duties as required

Education, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience as an Inventory Control Coordinator, or similar role

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical with an aptitude for data
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Able to move product/boxes up to 40 lbs
  • Able to be upright/stationary, lower oneself and move throughout the warehouse for periods of time
  • Warehouse/Forklift experience (will provide training)

About our Team:
The Distribution Division is based at 5201 Dufferin Street, in Toronto and provides shipping, receiving and storage for the University of Toronto Press and approximately 40 independent publishers. Normal operations for the facility is 16 hours a day, 5 days a week, and is staffed by more than 100 full and part-time, warehouse and office employees.
