Description:

The Portfolio Management Officer will be involved in the Portfolio Management activities for Nuveen Alternatives Europe S.à r.l. (hereafter the “AIFM”) in Luxembourg and will support and assist the Portfolio Management Conducting Officer (PMCO) in monitoring the investment process, together with the related execution of investment strategies across the Nuveen International platform.
The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with various stakeholders across the Nuveen platform in EMEA, US and APAC to build a strong governance and oversight process among Nuveen’s dedicated portfolio managers.
The Portfolio Management Officer. will report directly to the Portfolio Management Conducting Officer and be responsible for the preparation of reports to the regulated board of the AIFM and the monthly reports to the AIFMs executive committee. In addition to their core responsibilities the Portfolio Management Oversight Officer will be involved in the onboarding of new strategies onto the platform.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Perform and document the periodic due diligence assessment on the Portfolio Managers, including the review of policies, procedures, processes and systems;
  • Support in the design, implementation and maintenance of NAE Portfolio Management oversight framework for existing and new asset classes;
  • Attendance to the Investment Committees of the delegate portfolio managers and performance of transaction reviews to ensure fit with the strategy and restrictions of the funds governing documents.
  • Support in the production of the monthly and quarterly Portfolio Management reports to NAE Board, Executive Committee and fund Boards; detailing the activity of the PMO function during the reference period;
  • Review, update and maintain NAE Portfolio Management policies and procedures;
  • Maintain relationships and organise regular meetings with the investment teams and Portfolio Managers at group level and at third party level as relevant;
  • Gather and analyse supporting documentation submitted to the relevant Investment committees;
  • Collect, centralise and analyse the indicators and reports received from the different investment teams;
  • Monitor whether funds are operating within the terms and conditions of their investment mandates, legal and regulatory requirements;
  • Support in the handling of requests from service providers and internal/external auditors.

Technical Skills & Qualifications Required

  • Ideally post graduate degree in Finance, Economics or similar fields from university or business school;
  • 5+ years’ experience in financial services of which majority spent in an investment related function;
  • Be aware of and have a good understanding of the investment strategies and alternative asset classes;
  • Knowledge of AIFMD and investment funds regulations;
  • Experience with alternative investment strategies such as real estate, private equity, private credit or infrastructure;
  • Strong relationship building attributes based around mutual respect and the strength of character to be able to present portfolio management issues assertively but constructively;
  • Strong team player with good communication skills;
  • Proven ability to work in autonomy and take initiatives;
  • Analytical approach and well organized;
  • Fluent in English; any other languages would be considered an asset;
